According to Neuralink, it is working on brain-chip interfaces that might let patients regain their sight, even if they were born blind, and "full bodily functionality," including movement and vocal communication, for those who have had their spinal cords cut.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not given the business authority to market the gadget, but Musk said on Wednesday that the majority of the required paperwork for FDA approval to implant the device in a person has already been submitted.
The Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine called on Musk on Wednesday to reveal information about experiments on monkeys that had led to internal bleeding, paralysis, chronic infections, seizures, declining psychological health, and death. Neuralink has come under fire for its alleged treatment of monkeys.
