According to investigators, a private party had been held at the location before the shooting. An investigation is now underway.

Takeoff, who was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, formed Migos with his uncle, fellow rapper Quavo, and Offset in 2008. The group rose to prominence with their 2013 hit "Versace."

With the release of their single "Bad and Boujee," featuring fellow recording artist Lil Uzi Vert, their fame further grew throughout 2016.

The song immediately became an online success, spawning a slew of memes based on the words "rain drop, drop top."

The song gained even more traction after "Atlanta" creator and star Donald Glover mentioned it during his winning speech at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.

"I actually want to thank the Migos," Glover stated at the time, "not for coming on the show, but for producing 'Bad and Boujee.'" "Like it's the greatest song ever."

Takeoff and Quavo just created "Unc & Phew," and their debut album, "Only Built for Infinity Links," was released on October 7.

On Monday, the music video for their single "Messy" was released.

Takeoff accepted praise for his excellent performance on the new project during a recent chat on the podcast "Drink Champs" only days before his death.

"I'm cool. "I'm chill, but it's time to pop it," Takeoff stated. "Now it's time to give me my flowers." I don't want them while I'm not around."
